I am beginning an article on the 50th anniversary of PHHS for the Northeast Booster/Reporter. I would like to talk to a person or persons from the alumni association who can talk about planning, special events, fundraising, etc., in connection with the anniversary. The article, a cover story, is scheduled to run Feb. 28.

"Mr." Heil's class was the best! I was his student in 7th grade which would have been around 1970 or 71. It was my first year in public school, scared to death. His art class opened a new world to me which still enriches my life today. Congrats and a great big thank you to him for great memories and helping me find my creative life! He will always hold a special place in my heart!

I would like to nominate Mrs. Nancy Eckels for the Perry Hall High School Hall of Fame. Mrs. Eckels is one of the most dedicated, caring individuals I have ever met. Students, parents, and staff always knew that she would do everything possible to help students overcome obstacles and achieve success in school and in their personal lives.

I would like to nominate Nancy Benson Eckles, retired Guidance Counselor (1985-2007).....she was a dedicated, humanitarian, team-builder, who was a champion of all students......one of her greatest gifts was providing a "voice" for the "unvoiced"; students who would never have had the ability to promote their own needs.....Mrs. Eckles arrived early and stayed late to provide services to students, parents, and staff, and she was widely respected by all stakeholders of the Perry Hall High School Community....

I think that Barbara L. Sullivan, a former Health/Physical Education teacher should be nominated for the Hall of Fame. She was a very big inspiration to a number of girls field hockey players, lacrosse players and even those that didn't have any athletic bones in their body. As a freshman coming into the high school, being overweight, I was not looking forward to phys. ed. class. That first year, I believe in 1983, Ms. Sullivan developed a class for overweight teenage girls. It was called, N.E.A.T, shore for Nutrition, Education for Active Teens or something like that. She taught a group of us girls about food choices to make, gave us encouragement to lose weight, etc. Ms. Sullivan just gave me and some of my friends something to look forward to each day-phys. ed for non-athletics. So, that is my nomination , Ms. Barbara Sullivan. Thanks.
